New Heparin Production Plant in Toledo
June 1, 1999
Since mid last year, BIOIBERICA now has a new heparin production plan. After undergoing two months of pre production trials, it is now fully operational
This plant, located in La Puebla de Montalbán in the Toledo province, processes pig mucosa coming from south and central Spain. This plant allowed us to augment our total production, as it has freed part of the producing ability of our plant in Palafolls, that in turn has widened its collection area towards diverse areas in Europe. In the foreseeable future, it is expected to further increase our total production thanks to additional expansions of our collection areas. On the other hand, these new facilities are closer to the production areas, therefore allowing us to insure better product quality as the time lapse between product collection and its processing is now shorter. The facilities are located in a built up area of 500 m2. The factory includes reactors, complexators, filter-presses, depots, steam boilers, air compressors and purifier. Their operations are completely separate from each other: in the Toledo facilities it is produced an intermediate product of heparin that in turn is transported to the Palafolls plant to purify it there. This investment has placed BIOIBERICA among the top four leading companies in heparin production worldwide. . New plant of BIOIBERICA in La Puebla de Montalbán (Toledo).
